Local Area Information Pinos Del Valle

Pinos Del Valle

The village is small and rural set into the hillside of the valley divided into an Upper Barrio and Lower Barrio.  There is a bank, local bar serving drinks and tapas, bakery, pharmacy, supermarket, butcher and two churches.  The villa is at the foot of the village but is connected via a stepped pathway.

At the top of the village is the start of the path leading to the Christo del zapato.  It takes around 45 minutes to walk to the top, a fairly steep climb but worth the effort for the amazing views.

The village also has its own olive oil corporation and Orovalle extra virgin olive oil is produced here.

Further afield

The Lecrin Valley is unspoilt midway between Granada and the coastal beaches of the Costa Tropical.  The villages in this area are mainly agricultural, growing olives, almonds and oranges and are traditional.  Tourism is not a big industry here and for this reason it remains beautiful and peaceful.  It is a special place for walking and cycling and many routes are available online.

There are also many local bars and restaurants, vineyards and sites of interest to enjoy.

Granada – it is a 30 minute drive and is a bustling city with good shopping and many bars and restaurants.  The world heritage site of the Alhambra Palace is here and there is an ancient Moorish quarter, El Albaicin,a maize of tiny streets and little shops, providing fantastic views of the Alhambra.

Beaches the Costa Tropical - a 30 minute drive south are the beaches of the Costa Tropical, seldom busy even during the peak summer months.  The beaches of Playa de Torrenueva, Ppaya puerta Del Mar, and La Herradura are large and open, all are clean and have brown shingle or pebbly beaches.  Many have inexpensive beach side restaurants serving tapas and wonderful seafood, great for a family day out.  La Herradura is one of the best places to dive off the south coast of Spain, or kite surf from the beach.

Sierra Nevada mountains - The ski resort is located 45 minutes away for snowy activities during the winter months.  During the warmer months scenic hikes in the Alpujarras through Lanjaron, Orgiva and Pampaneira will stimulate your senses.
